Remarks 1

The ’DN31’ has especially been built as a permanent standby vessel for oil recovery in case of shipping accidents on the River Scheldt or in front of the Belgian coast.
During normal activities, the vessel is used with an underwater plough for seabed levelling in confined areas such as accesses to locks and near quay-walls.

Remarks 2

Under the Luxembourg flag chemical / oil products tanker Crystal Topaz, the bottom brush (sweep beam) DN 31 run over. The special built oil remover is capsized and sank. The DN 31 is near the locks and Deurganckdock in the port of Antwerp regularly employed as a land leveler (sweep beam).
